When it rains... it poors!

The last month in the Jackman house has been interesting... to say the least. In the last month, we have visited the ER, been to the Dr. many times and been home with throwing up kids, twice!

First, about a month and a half ago, Mason had an allergic reaction to something, at the time we thought it might be either sun screen or peanut butter. He woke up on a Monday morning with hives and his face was very swollen. He had the same type of symptoms when we came back from our trip to Florida and the Dr. wasn't concerned. She thought it was a heat rash and said it would go away.

After an early morning visit to the ER, the Dr. thought the reaction was more than likely to peanut butter. I didn't agree so much, considering Mason lives off of peanut butter, but she is the Dr. The two common factors is the sun screen. We had to stay away from both and she suggested that we take him to Dr. Miller and get him allergy tested.

The following week, Jacob had to go to the Dr. for a cough that just won't go away. It was thought to be allergies and we were told to give him Zyrtec for about 2 weeks and see if that would help. Surprise, Surprise... It didn't. We went back and now he has an inhaler.

In the mean time, Mason has had peanut butter with no reaction. The culprit is the sun screen, Water babies. Needless to say it doesn't surprise me. Mason has such sensitive skin that I should have expected it.

Last week, we were going through a local drive thru and Jacob started yelling, "He's puking, He's puking!" Mason was so sick. All the way home Ryan had to sit in the back of the car with a paper bag. Thank goodness it only lasted about 24 hrs. He is still too little to understand he needs to get sick in something; a bowl, the toilet, anything!

As of last night, Ryan was the next victim to the nasty flu, if that's what it is. Hopefully it is done with our family!

Tap Review 2008

Last weekend was Jacob's Tap Review. He was in two numbers this year, one with Trinity Potter and the other with Simon Huff. It was the first year that it was just him and another person; he did really well with it.
Jacob and Trinity sang "Ain't she sweet..." They both did a great job and got lots of cheers and applause when they were done. I was so proud of them both. They have been working very hard on this years dance. Ms. Bev decided to challange them this year and threw in a couple of really hard steps, they did them great.

Jacob and Simon did the waltz in their sailor suits. It was very cute and they were both very handsome. The first night, Jacob had a costume problem and his pants were down past his behind. Nana yelled, "Jacob pull up your pants!" and he did and just kept going. I was very proud of him. The next night, Nana sewed some suspenders into his pants so they would stay up.

All year long, Jacob has been telling me he didn't want to do tap anymore. I told him he had to finish out the year and then he didn't have to do it anymore. The first night he didn't want to go, but he did. The second and third night I had to drag him there. When the third preformance was done, he came off the stage and said that he couldn't wait till next year to do it again. I guess we will see come September!

Going Green, Trying too anyway!

Weather Ryan likes it or not, we are going to start to live healthier. Mason can't use soaps or cleaners that have scent and perfumes, so we might as well use it to all of our advantage. We have switched to organic milk, fruits and veggies and cleaning products. It is really hard to find good things, but if you are committed, you can do it.

My new favorite store is Whole Foods in Hillsboro. They have a little bite of everything there, it's great. I found a great cleaning brand called Mrs. Meyers. http://www.mrsmeyers.com It works well and smellls good too, not like strong chemicals.

Things are a little more expensive, but it means the health of my family. I can't help but wonder if Mason would have been a little more healthy had we changed sooner. Ever since we changed to Bio-kleen http://biokleenhome.com laundry soap he hasn't had any break outs, until Daddy did laundry with Tide!
