First day of 3rd grade!

Today was Jacob's first day in Ms. Cleary's third grade class! He was so excited to go back to school and see all of his friends and old teachers! Every morning, he visits all his old teachers for a good morning hug! (It's kind of weird with Jacob having some of the same teachers that I had, or having my friends as teachers!)

With the new school year fast approaching, Jacob has been TRYING to go to bed earlier-without luck, I might add! Last night came upon us pretty fast and we had a lot to get ready before the first day of school!

When Jacob woke up this morning, he got up and was ready to go about an hour and a half before school even started. We had breakfast, and talked about what type of things he thought they would do on the first day. He was sure they would do some reading, maybe writing, and of course MATH! He insists that he "hates" math, yet he is good at it; it comes easy to him!

We talked a lot about making good choices and not following what the other kids are doing! He was very concerned that the neighbor boy was in his class! He picks on Jacob and gets him into trouble; Jacob tends to be a follower! I told him to remember his manners and if he remembered what was right then he would be fine!

When I picked him up this afternoon, he told me that he made sure to make the "RIGHT" choices and that he had fun!

J- "Momma, I think I'm gunna like the third grade!"

M- "I thought you would!"

On the way home, I had tears rolling down my face. It really hit home that my baby is really in the third grade. I can remember every moment of the day that he was born, just like it was yesterday! It is hard to believe the cute little butter ball that I brought home from the hospital is now 8 years old. Time goes by faster than ever- this just reminds me to take in all the memories that I can!

Happy 3rd grade! Maddy started yesterday too. So weird, huh? We were talking about how she doesn't even seem like the same person as that roly poly baby we brought home from the hospital- that almost seems like someone else's story now!

Last week I saw Ms Bushbaum at a meeting at Linfield. I went up to her and introduced myself- she was my second grade teacher! She remembered me, and then said she was so sorry about Sara, and we both started crying right there in the middle of Linfield. What other teachers are still there???

Jacob's kinder year he had Ms. Bushbaum. Ms. Even's is still there too! Jacob's 1st grade teacher was Glenna Smith, now Barry! That was kind of weird-her and I were really good friends! Mindy Moore was his reading teacher too! Ramona's mom is the librarian, Keith's mom is in the office, Shanda Hamilton and Melissa Wertz work in the cafeteria, Aaron Henderson is a teacher, Mrs. Henley is still there, Mrs. Case is the spanish/reading teacher, Mrs. Grauer is the PE teacher, and Mrs. Elliott is still the science teacher.

It seems like a school reunion every time I go! Yesterday I saw Melanie Cranfill, Crystal Yoder, and a few others picking up their kids! I doesn't seem like we are old enough to have kids there, but we are 30! YUCK!
